RISK DISCLOSURE
Risks associated with Stocks and Shares (including their derivatives), Foreign Unit Trusts and Foreign Securities. This list is not to be considered to be an exhaustive list.
Currency Risk
All foreign investments are subject to currency risk. For foreign funds, currency risk remains during the redemption period until the investments are fully converted to ringgit or the currency requested.
Liquidity risk
The fund manager may make investments in securities, commodities, derivatives and other markets that are illiquid. This may result in higher volatility in prices and Net Asset Prices (NAVs).
Regulatory risk
All investment in foreign countries are subject to their own laws and regulations and these may not be the same as in Malaysia.
Alternative Investment
Alternative Investments are funds that are allowed to invest in non-traditional securities and products. Their underlying assets may include participation in the trading of a managed portfolio of investments in futures, options, forward contracts, swaps and other derivative investments to access a broad range of markets including stocks, bonds, currencies, interest rates, energies, metals, credit, agricultural and commodities.
Forward Pricing
Forward pricing of a fund means the price to redeem is based on the next valuation date (next day, next week or next month). Generally open-ended alternative investment instruments are priced on a weekly basis and close-ended alternative investment instruments only provide monthly pricing (i.e. monthly redemption). This means that the fund manager and investors will not know the price and NAV of the funds upon submission for the redemption as the redemption is always based on the next valuation date as stated in the funds' prospectuses.
Redemption Process
For close-ended alternative investment instruments, the redemption cut off time is before 10th of every month. All redemptions orders received after 10th of each month will be based on the NAVs for the following month. For example, an investor who redeems on 15th of June will receive redemption proceeds based on the NAV for July which would be released only in the 3rd week of August. Thereafter, investor would receive their monies 2 to 3 weeks later (around mid of September in this case). On average, the entire process to redeem investment in the close-ended alternative investment instruments may take up to 2.5 months.
